Merseyside Derby

Off the back of a 3-0 victory against Manchester City, Liverpool have an important trip to Goodison Park intercepting the two matches in the Champions League. Jurgen Klopp will have to trust youth and inexperience for the Derby in order to provide some respite for the fourteen players that played at Anfield on Wednesday. Emre Can, Ragnar Klavan, Ben Woodburn, and Mohamed Salah are fitness doubts, but raising to make the 0.9 mile trip from Anfield to Goodison on Saturday. Speaking in his press conference, Klopp stressed the need for him not to reveal the current team news, so as to not provide information for opponents, while giving his potential fitness doubts the maximum time necessary to get themselves as fit as they can before the gaffer makes the call.

Analyzing the fact that Liverpool only have 17 fit senior players, and Danny Ward being an extra goalkeeper, the opportunity will present itself for one more Red's teenager to get a possible bow if Emre Can, Ragnar Klavan, Ben Woodburn, or Mohamed Salah are not able to meet the game in time. Essentially it's drawing a name out of a hat when it comes to potential u23's in the side, but my pick has to be Curtis Jones. A midfielder by trade who has shown some good form in recent weeks might get the nod on the bench. Either way, those associated with Liverpool will have one and a half eyes on the Champions League second leg on Tuesday and all focus for the derby may be left late Friday night, Saturday morning.

Provisional Squad

First Team: Loris Karius, Nathaniel Clyne, Virgil van Dijk, Georginio Wijnaldum, Dejan Lovren, James Milner, Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, Alberto Moreno, Sadio Mané, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Simon Mignolet, Andrew Robertson, Danny Ings, Dominic Solanke, Alexander-Arnold, Danny Ward

Possible Academy Call-Ups: Conor Masterson, Curtis Jones, Rafa Camacho, Kamil Grabara, Bobby Adekanye, Herbie Kane

Doubts: Emre Can, Ragnar Klavan, Ben Woodburn, and Mohamed Salah

Out: Joe Gomez, Adam Lallana, Joel Matip

Predicted Starting XI

It is very likely that Klopp's rotations will still see a number of players from Wednesday night keep there spots, solely due to the fact that there is a lack of senior fit players. Danny Ings was near absolutely confirmed to start tomorrow by Jurgen Klopp which might set precedent to recall Dominic Solanke, Alberto Moreno, and Nathanial Clyne. Solanke started the last Derby (1-1 draw at Anfield) where he lacked real maturity, but this might be the game he's been waiting for. Nathanial Clyne hasn't played for 9 months and will likely give Trent Alexander-Arnold some respite. The midfield, center-halves and goalkeeper are likely to keep their spots from Wednesday night. Curtis Jones and Conor Masterson are the likely available teenagers off the bench.
